“Cheap like borscht.” I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase. Well I’m coining a new one.
Friends like borscht are not cheap. They are warm and comforting. And they are costly. These friends are family because of the highest price ever paid – the life of God. Jesus’ death and resurrection, his salvation of sinners, his drawing our wayward hearts into communion with the God of the universe, this is what takes people who were strangers and makes them family. Family who brings borscht for supper because they know you’re too busy to cook.
