Bathtime

How do you keep a two year old busy and distracted so that she stops her constant stream of requests for snacks? Give her a bath in the kitchen sink. I think I will be using this trick a lot from now on. Good thing she's so petite and still fits so well!

The Cave

For his birthday supper, Markus was allowed to choose whatever he wanted, wherever he wanted. He chose to go to The Cave. That place has not changed since I was there for the first time about 18 years ago. The food is nothing special, but Markus loved it, so that was good enough for us.

Spot It!

My biggest boy is turning six tomorrow! We celebrated with cupcakes this evening, along with the local crew of extended family. A few months ago, Auntie Jean told Markus that she had already bought his birthday present, and he has been anticipating it with glee ever since. He was not left disappointed! The game is called Spot It!, and it is a fantastic family game. So easy, and it doesn't matter your age, it's fun for everyone.

Happy Birthday to my Markus. You are an absolute delight!

Zip

Plaid shirt and a hoodie, these are my Clay's uniform of choice. He looks great in it. And Deacon also approves, as he loves to chew on the white strings.

Busted

E6.
Stupid washing machine.
We had the control board replaced on this thing a little over a year ago, and now it has given up the ghost again. Enough is enough. This evening, we went shopping for a new laundry pair. We didn't make any impulse buys, but have an idea which direction to go in.

We were at Mom and Dad's this afternoon, and Markus was very distraught over a hangnail on his index finger. As I have learned with kids, time heals most wounds but when in doubt, put on a bandage. I asked my dad if he had one, and when they came back Markus revealed his 'man's bandage' to me. Electrical tape :) I didn't hear a thing about the pain after this. Way to go, Grandpa!

Pineapple

One of those days. Those days when I don't think to take a picture until 10:00pm and I reach for the nearest fruit. So what does this say about my life today? Um...I have a pineapple on my counter today.

Mmmushrooms

I made this Mushroom Tart for supper tonight. Oh my. Was it ever delicious!

Deacon does not seem to be interested in baby food; however, give him a chunk of real food and he is happy as a clam. None of this puree nonsense for our big guy. Hey, it makes things easier for me!

Goof

My sweet rosy-cheeked Markus. Clay took him and Wyatt sledding this evening - gotta take advantage of the snow now that it's finally here (and will be melting in no time!

The littlest two and I stayed home, which made for a quiet and peaceful evening. Part of me wishes we could all have been out on the hill, but it will come soon enough and I will miss the evenings spent at home with my babies.
