Photos

I still hadn't finished editing the wedding photos I shot last month, so this afternoon my wonderful mom came to watch the kids while I went out to edit. Three and a half hours at Starbucks, and I'm done! It's amazing how much you can accomplish in a few uninterrupted hours, and even more amazing how much bigger the kids were when I got home.
:)

Dorothy, you know it.

My final red transportation shot :)

271: Cruiser

I was in search of a red bicycle today, and I'm sure you can imagine my delight when I saw a man on this one heading my way! He graciously allowed me to shoot some action shots of him.

I'm beginning to lose my fear of asking for a shot - I just try to act confident, and let my beefy looking camera do the rest of the talking. I guess I look somewhat legit :)

270: Bus Stop

This retired and transplanted double decker bus lives downtown, across the street from the Bessborough Hotel. It's the home of Bus Stop Refreshments, and nothing beats their iced tea and ice cream on a hot summer day!
Along with the red theme this week, it appears I have self-imposed a transportation theme to go along with it. And a 50mm f/1.8 theme.

After yesterday's shot, Clay said, "I guess you're going to have to find yourself a sweet red car to shoot tomorrow." At lunch today, I asked my dad where I could find one. He sent me to a vintage auto sales dealer in the next town, and this 65 Impala fit the bill. I was smitten by a silver Thunderbird though, so maybe I'll go back to shoot it another day. (Jean, now I've got the Marc Cohn song in my head.)
Now what else can I shoot for the next 3 days? Bicycle? I'm running out of transport options.

268: Badass

I pull into a parking lot at the same time a badass looking guy pulls up on this bike. All I was thinking was, "Red bike! Red bike! I need a shot of that bike for the theme!" After humming and hawing about whether I should, I approached him and asked if he'd mind if I shot some photos of his bike. He was incredibly friendly, and said it was no problem.

Moral of the story: Don't judge a man by the skull on his leather vest.

Lift me up
turn me around
I'm gonna get my feet off the ground
lift me up
turn me around

-The Benjamin Gate

Things of this earth
that we treasure
will rot and rust.
There's nothing
here for me.

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:20

Mmmmm.....BBQ supper with the family, and waaaay too many options for dessert. Not that I'm complaining.

264: Kel

We spent the day on the beach at the lake today, and with the sky overcast with smoke (forest fires are burning 2 provinces away), the light was awesome for taking pictures. It was hard to choose just one, but I went with this, a rare candid shot of my oldest brother, Kel. Yes, his eyes really are that blue.
