To me it is a hill.
To him it is a mountain, and he is filled with wonder as he scales its heights.

122: Brothers

There are days when one only has to look at the other the wrong way and the yelling starts, but these brothers really do love each other dearly and play so well together. They are blessed to have each other and I am blessed to have them.

I love that there's starting to be more fair trade products available in "regular" grocery stores. You shouldn't have to go out of your way to buy the right thing.

This is just another encouragement from me to think about what you're doing when you spend a dollar. Does it make sense to buy the cheapest coffee you can get, and then give money to farmers in developing countries who can't earn a living wage because their coffee crop is sold for less than it cost to produce? Or does it make sense to pay more for your coffee so that farmer can earn a living wage? If it were you, would you want a hand out or a hand up? What would give you more dignity?

It's these everyday moments that become memories in the heart of a child. For me it was a welcome change just to get outside in the beautiful spring air. For Markus it was a victorious first ride down the sidewalk on his tricycle. He stops at a familiar house, and declares he wants to go say hi. I worry about intruding, and the thought never crosses his mind. He rings the bell with his brother and they welcome themselves inside to see Murray and Derek. Why not, they're his friends, right? Why is it so complicated in my grown-up mind?

119: Soggy Day

Apparently the drainage issues at our nearby playground were not resolved last fall. There were very few kids out to play today, but my boys had a blast wading through the lakes.

Discovered a few old phone booths today on our way for lunch. I was disappointed that they were trapped behind a barbed wire fence, but it sort of adds to the feeling of sadness and longing for the good old days. Ever have one those days where you wish someone would come scrape off all your peeling paint, and shine you up like a new penny again?

117: Poker Face

Tonight was monthly Girls' Poker Night. Really, it's an excuse to get together, eat a ton of great food (and tonight, because Esther was hosting, it also meant yummy lattes!), and chat. But we do get around to playing cards - eventually.

Thanks for the fun evening, girls!

Clay took me to The Keg tonight, a belated birthday date. We had a lovely time, and the food was awesome as always.

This little man is such a sweetie! It was so nice to get out of the house today for a good visit with my friend Angie, while Bailey visited with Beckett, and the boys were thoroughly entertained by someone else' toys :)
Thanks for having us, Ang!

114: Beauty

Bailey hasn't made an appearance here for far too long! Nine and a half months, and full of energy. She gets around by dragging herself - every once in a while she gets up on her knees but apparently thinks dragging is more effective. Whatever works I guess! She also likes to give me near-heart attacks multiple times a day by making it look like she's going to launch out of her high chair. Don't let the sweet face fool you, there's mischief in this sweet little girl!
