Aloha

My love, enjoying a delicious cup of Kona coffee this afternoon.

My parents went to Hawaii last month, and my one request was that they bring me back some Kona beans. Yum.
Thanks, Mom and Dad!

Clever

I think Daddy is pretty taken by his little Spider-Man Baby.

I see so much mischief in that little smirk. I'm pretty sure he's laughing about how he's got us wrapped around his little finger. We are suddenly realizing how much he's calling the shots around here - mostly how he knows just what buttons to push and strings to pull so that he ends up sleeping snuggled between Mommy and Daddy at night. he is one clever seven month old! We love you, Trouble :)

Green Eggs

Wyatt doesn't like eggs, and he says it's because he doesn't like to see the yellow of the yolk. So I thought I'd be clever and make secret recipe green eggs (with spinach). He was enthusiastic about it, but after one bite he changed his mind. Probably because they still tasted like eggs...for all I know he might have been expecting them to taste like candy.

So this thumbs up is not for the eggs, but for the fact that he would get to talk to his Pappy on Skype if he ate half of what was on his plate. He did it!

Pressed

I don't love ironing. I do love my husband. And I do find him very handsome in a pressed plaid shirt. So today I finally got around to ironing his shirts for him. Plaid shirts have become a uniform of sorts for him, one that always looks good on him.

Sharkface

I bought the boys some new jammies, and they were more than happy to put on their best sharkface to celebrate their first night sleeping in them. I love these crazy kids!

Cupboard

I'm still going great guns with my house cleaning and decluttering. Today I started tackling the kitchen, and will finish up tomorrow. Here's a few of our favourite mugs, happily relocated to a different cupboard.

All this cleaning is rewarding, but am I ever wiped out! Time for bed.

Curl Up

There is little better on a winter day than sitting on a warm floor bathed in sunshine. Little better except doing so with a mug steaming with happiness.

Life's good.

Inventive

Necessity is the mother of invention, right? Well I needed to make supper tonight, and spinach was our star ingredient. It appeared in our quiche, as well as was the main ingredient with our salad. Thinking the kids wouldn't appreciate a very spinach-y salad, I dressed it up with apples, candied pecans, and a vinaigrette with a touch of cinnamon. They were not impressed. (Insert moment where Mom grits teeth and sighs deeply). Eat your spinach!!

There were quite a few apples and pecans left, so I had them for dessert with some yogurt - oh my. Yum!

Spring Cleaning

Knowing that I wanted to read it, Clay bought me this book for my birthday last year. I read the first half, which talks about the 'what' and the 'why' of simple living, but never got around to tackling the 'do' - the second half of the book. Until now....
It's a ten day whirlwind of clearing the clutter, organizing what's left, and freeing yourself up to enjoy life rather than cleaning it up all the time. (That sounds nice doesn't it? If only the messes stopped coming!) Today was Project Living Room, and I cleaned from top to bottom, emptied everything out, and put most of it back in. I still have a bit to finish up tomorrow, and then it's on the the kitchen on Monday.
It's really not spring yet, but the weather would almost have you believe otherwise, so I am getting my house in shape so I can get the rest of my life in order as well.

Procrastinate

"Bailey, finish your toast."

"Mommy, c'you take a picsa of me?"
