119: Soggy Day

Apparently the drainage issues at our nearby playground were not resolved last fall. There were very few kids out to play today, but my boys had a blast wading through the lakes.

Discovered a few old phone booths today on our way for lunch. I was disappointed that they were trapped behind a barbed wire fence, but it sort of adds to the feeling of sadness and longing for the good old days. Ever have one those days where you wish someone would come scrape off all your peeling paint, and shine you up like a new penny again?

117: Poker Face

Tonight was monthly Girls' Poker Night. Really, it's an excuse to get together, eat a ton of great food (and tonight, because Esther was hosting, it also meant yummy lattes!), and chat. But we do get around to playing cards - eventually.

Thanks for the fun evening, girls!

Clay took me to The Keg tonight, a belated birthday date. We had a lovely time, and the food was awesome as always.

This little man is such a sweetie! It was so nice to get out of the house today for a good visit with my friend Angie, while Bailey visited with Beckett, and the boys were thoroughly entertained by someone else' toys :)
Thanks for having us, Ang!

114: Beauty

Bailey hasn't made an appearance here for far too long! Nine and a half months, and full of energy. She gets around by dragging herself - every once in a while she gets up on her knees but apparently thinks dragging is more effective. Whatever works I guess! She also likes to give me near-heart attacks multiple times a day by making it look like she's going to launch out of her high chair. Don't let the sweet face fool you, there's mischief in this sweet little girl!

113: So Sew

Bought some new jeans on the weekend (woohoo!) and they needed to be shortened (yes, in case you haven't noticed, I'm somewhat short). I am capable of hemming jeans, but I am so much happier when my mom does it for me. Thank you Mom!

This morning I made some paper pots to start my seeds in, and here they are sunning themselves in my kitchen window. Hopefully in a couple of months I will have some eager tomato and pepper plants to transplant. This is my first time attempting this, and I'm very excited! Last year our yard was nothing but mud when the snow melted, so it it incredibly encouraging to see a partially finished yard emerge from the cover of winter. I can't wait to put a garden in, however small, and enjoy some fresh veggies this summer!
Ta da! Yesterday's masterpiece unveiled! There's nothing particularly wonderful about the way I took this photo, but I am very proud of these cakes :)

Markus is having his birthday party tomorrow, and what's a party without cake?! He agreed to let me pick what kind of cake I was going to make him, and it will be a surprise when he sees it tomorrow. Of course I'm not going to give you a peek at it before him! All you get to see is the beginning stages of my creations. Here, I'm scratching out a grid onto the crumb coat of icing, on which I will paint my masterpiece. You think I'm being over dramatic, I know. But I'm not, you'll see!
