100: I Cook.

Mar10Pasta

We had spaghetti and meat sauce for supper tonight - Clay's favourite! Wyatt's been anything but keen on most veggies lately, so I put some spinach in the sauce, that way he couldn't pick around it. Instead of being pokey about eating his veggies he and Markus were pokey about the whole bowl of pasta. Oh well, Bailey thought it was great :)

I am loving the bokeh in this picture, from the light reflected off the pot lid.

secret vegetables are the best 🙂 i have cooked carrots/onions/celery/red peppers/whatever veggies i have and want to use up and blended them and then added them to spaghetti sauce and carter eats it up – can’t see them and i think it actually tastes better that way 🙂

I’m starting to see the value of secret veggies too Karina. I used to think, “no way am I hiding veg in the food, I want them to know what they’re eating and LIKE it.” Of course I thought that when they really did like their veggies and weren’t picky. Now I’m pulling the plank out my eye 🙂

Do both. You can win! It took me a while but my kids went from thinking avocados where yuck and would only eat them in guacamole to thinking they are yum even when they see them for what they are:)

Thanks Becky, I know you’re right, I can do both. I know a huge part of the problem is that I haven’t been eating very well lately and it of course transfers to my kids. I grab whatever is easy with Baby Girl in one arm, and that means it’s easier to give them (and me!) an Oreo or two than cut up some cucumbers or peppers. If I DO put veggies and dip in front of them they inhale it. And we ALL feel better for it.
