Marching Band

Yesterday evening, Bailey and I heard a marching band practicing. She was captivated by the beats and the bagpipes, I was captivated by her, and wondered what they were practicing for...a parade? Sure enough, our Exhibition Parade was today, so we went to check it out. It was made even better for the kids when they discovered that their Grandpa was joining us.
Markus' favourite part was the hot air balloon fire being shot into the air (does that even make sense? I can't figure out how to word it), Wyatt loved the old fire truck, and Bailey...the marching band! :) Deacon enjoyed sleeping in his wrap, tucked close to me. Dad, what was your favourite part?

Snuggle

Bailey loves her little Deacon so much. She needed a snuggle with him on the couch, and while he wasn't too impressed with the whole arrangement, she wasn't phased. It's so funny to me how little girls are so captivated by babies - they can be screaming in their arms and they don't even notice.

Bring & Braai

Friends of ours from South Africa hosted a Bring & Braai today for our church family.
Braai = BBQ, basically. Bring some food to share, your own meat, grill it, eat and enjoy the company! It was a great afternoon.

Birthday Cake

Who's that hiding behind the cake?
Wyatt! Don't you love his arched eyebrows? You can just imagine the expression on his face :)
We celebrated Wyatt's fourth birthday today with my family. He is such an adorable, fun-loving, curious little boy. I love his big, wet kisses, his dramatic voice, expressive face, and warm snuggles.

Baking

Wyatt's birthday party is tomorrow, so I'm up late baking cake so I can build it tomorrow and put the icing on. I'm relieved that he changed his mind last minute from cupcakes to one big cake; although cupcakes seem like an easier option, I always regret them once I start putting on the icing. They can be so tedious...not that a layer cake isn't. I'm not sure there's a winning option, really. I'm glad I enjoy this kind of thing.

Sometimes I find her far too adorable!

Watermelon

I love watermelon in the summer.

Days Gone By

Sometimes I wish this chair could talk
Tell me of the years it has seen
Stories of family gathered around the table
Children laughing
Meals shared
Scriptures read
Life in the everyday,
from days gone by.

Birthday Donut

My little Wyatt turned four today!
His day was filled with adventures, and here we are at Tim Hortons for a birthday donut...we're having his actual party on Saturday, so instead of making a batch of cupcakes today that would need to be eaten by our little family, I opted for a less labour intensive donut today. Cake or cupcakes to come on the weekend.

Tech Kids

Wyatt snapped this photo for me, since I was feeling very uninspired with the camera today. It's a shot of Deacon's first computer. Yes, my one month old has a computer. He might want to learn to write code like his dad at some point, might as well start him young!
