I am delighted that these cuties are finally entertained by PlayDoh on their own. I know they got tired of me saying no most of the time they'd ask to play with PlayDoh, but in the past it really meant Mommy plays and they'd tell me what to make. Now they entertain themselves for at least an hour when we pull it out. Win!
There's nothing really spectacular about this photo, but it's not bad. Good enough, I guess.
You might think we have four kids, but the truth is we have a baby boy, a monkey, bunny, and a bat. The monkey and bunny are quite predictable since they like to eat bananas and carrots, but the monkey has to watch his back very carefully because the bat actually likes to eat monkeys. How is this possible? I have no idea, but apparently it's true.
Two weeks of swimming lessons have come to an end for these boys. They both made a lot of progress and had a lot of fun, so I consider it a win. Hopefully we'll get them in lessons again in the fall and they can continue to build their confidence in the water.
When she makes her mind up, it is nearly impossible to reason with her. Today Bailey was determined to wear one of her fancy dresses. While I tried to steer her in another direction, I realized that life is for living. Why not wear the fancy dress?! She probably won't have another special occasion to wear it for, so doesn't it make more sense to wear it outside to run around and play with water, than to leave it hanging in the closet until it's too small to put on her sweet, pudgy body?
Clay and I love trying new restaurants, or restaurants that are new to us. There's a local place we have wanted to try for a few years, but they have the most inconvenient hours so we have never eaten there until today. We had a lunch date with Deacon, and behold my clubhouse sandwich on the best croissant I have ever tasted. Not the most affordable sandwich, but definitely a delicious treat.
Yesterday evening, Bailey and I heard a marching band practicing. She was captivated by the beats and the bagpipes, I was captivated by her, and wondered what they were practicing for...a parade? Sure enough, our Exhibition Parade was today, so we went to check it out. It was made even better for the kids when they discovered that their Grandpa was joining us.
Markus' favourite part was the hot air balloon fire being shot into the air (does that even make sense? I can't figure out how to word it), Wyatt loved the old fire truck, and Bailey...the marching band! :) Deacon enjoyed sleeping in his wrap, tucked close to me. Dad, what was your favourite part?

Bailey loves her little Deacon so much. She needed a snuggle with him on the couch, and while he wasn't too impressed with the whole arrangement, she wasn't phased. It's so funny to me how little girls are so captivated by babies - they can be screaming in their arms and they don't even notice.
Friends of ours from South Africa hosted a Bring & Braai today for our church family.
Braai = BBQ, basically. Bring some food to share, your own meat, grill it, eat and enjoy the company! It was a great afternoon.

Who's that hiding behind the cake?
Wyatt! Don't you love his arched eyebrows? You can just imagine the expression on his face :)
We celebrated Wyatt's fourth birthday today with my family. He is such an adorable, fun-loving, curious little boy. I love his big, wet kisses, his dramatic voice, expressive face, and warm snuggles.
