Another gloriously frosty day in my part of the world, thanks to a heavy mist in the air last night. I don't know how well you can see it at this picture size, but these power lines are covered in thick frost. I never tire of taking frost pictures - it amazes me how even the most mundane of our brown and colourless surroundings is made beautiful on days like today.

Getting ready to snuggle on the couch with my sweetie and watch a movie. A bubbly glass of something cold sounds perfect!

I haven't had a haircut in at least 9 months. Over that time I wasn't unhappy with the way my hair looked, which was new, so my plan was to grow it until I hated it...and today was that day! In the past my spontaneous haircuts have rarely resulted in success, but that doesn't stop me from trying. And today, I won! I went to a salon pretty close by, recommended by Esther and Becky, and I am SO happy with my new 'do! I know you can't see the cut very well in this pic, but of all the ones I took I like the way I look in this one the best.

We went to Dalmeny for Ladies Morning Out this morning and I was driving out of the parking lot when this tree caught my eye. The way the sun was breaking through the clouds and shining through the frost was so magical! I put the van in reverse, parked, and told the kids, "I'll be right back! Just gotta take a picture!" I think they're getting used to hearing that phrase by now.

Can it get cuter than two little cousins prancing around the house in their newfound summertime footwear?!
Sher and I were sorting through boxes from Jude, all girl clothes and shoes. Jilly was happy to try on some sandals, and Wyatt went straight for the hot pink rubber boots :)

3 grumpy little kids + 1 grumpy mommy = 1 rough day
I'm not one to think that Starbucks will solve my problems, but just getting out of the house this evening for a drive was good for me to clear my head a little. I can get so caught up in what's going on in our whiny house sometimes, that I lose perspective of how good life is.
How blessed I am that my "worries" consist of three kids draining my energy, rather than worrying about infertility; of what to make for supper, rather than where our next meal will come from; of cleaning my house and doing laundry, rather than where I will find shelter and warmth in the bitter cold of winter. I have so much to thank God for!

This is my big brother Steve. I keep having to tell people to act like I'm not there. I know that's easy for me to say when I'm behind the camera :)
When I started my 365, I didn't have a clear goal of what I hoped to learn this year. I'm realizing that I really want to get better at capturing the candid moments of everyday life. I love photography that tells a story, gives a glimpse into someone's life. A good candid portrait is worth a thousand words, and those are the shots I want to be able to capture.

We were out of the house for most of the day and I didn't feel like carrying my camera with me the whole time, so I snapped this shot of Spiderman (aka Markus) with Clay's iPhone. I think he was fighting the Hob Goblin....does anyone know what that means? I better get up to speed on superhero terminology here soon!

Upon arriving home, my sweetie empties his pockets on the counter. I wish I could leave the house with such a minimal amount of things! Alas, I have need of a bag that is full of diapers, wipes, snacks, change of baby clothes, wallet, phone, keys, and - the straw that breaks this camel's back - DSLR camera. You know, just in case my photo op of the day happens when we're out of the house :)
