I Bake

I love to bake. I'm a bit of an ingredient snob. Well, I say a bit...if you knew how picky I can be, you might drop the "a bit of". I just think, why would I load my baking up with processed convenience foods? Why not just buy a store-bought dessert then? I really don't think you can consider something to be baked from scratch if it's loaded with Jell-O, Cool Whip, sitting on a store-bought pie crust. But hey, I'm a snob that way.

I'm going to watch now.
Love that show.

Flyaway Home

Spring must really be here. Today the sky was filled with birds returning home after a long winter away. I don't know what kind of birds these are - my first thought was Canada Geese, but I think they look too white for that. Any ideas?

Treats

If you saw Clay's photo from yesterday, you know he loves specialty soda. I was out by myself this evening, stopped at the grocery store on my way home, and had a request for a treat from my dear. These Steaz sodas are awesome - we used to buy them from Costco all the time, but now they've stopped carrying them and they are too expensive to buy anywhere else on a regular basis. Yay treats! Looking forward to trying these new flavours.

Paperboy

Isn't he adorable?
He was helping carry my purse to the van. What a sweetie.

Ready?

Well...are you?
I know it's easy enough to get cynical about politics, but I wish people really understood what a gift it is to live in a country that allows them the freedom to elect their leader. Even if you think none of the candidates are ideal choices, at least you get a choice, and at least none of them are tyrannical dictators. Given all the political unrest around the world in the last few months, I am somewhat hopeful that people will take the gift of voting a little more seriously, but the cynic in me doubts we will see a better voter turnout than last time. Should we force people to vote, or is that less democratic? :)

All Hail

We woke to snow this morning, which melted by noon. Then the afternoon was met with a small hail storm. The kids were pretty excited to get outside, play with, and eat some hail :)

Mario

Cute son, speaking in his Mario voice, hence the serious face. Wyatt was out of the frame, playing with their new Luigi toy that the got today. It's been a day full of imaginative Mario Bros. play.

Spring Flood

Roadway? What roadway?
It's true, there really is a road under all that water. I know we had a lot of snow this winter, but I had no idea it would result in floods like this.

Found

About four months ago, Bailey nearly emptied my wallet of its cards, and then lost the wallet. I waited for it to turn up, but after two months of using a Ziploc baggie as a temporary wallet, I gave up hope and bought a new one. I figured she must have thrown the old wallet, along with the gift cards inside, in the garbage. Today it appeared! Somehow it had gotten wedged under the couch, (which I did look under!) and when I pulled the hide-a-bed out today there it was. Now I get to go shopping with my lost coins.
