293: Jilly

Happy birthday to my niece! She's two. Don't you love her party skirt and flowy scarf? So much flair at 2 years old :)

292: From Scratch

The arrival of fall means the return of weekly pizza night at our house.

Keys to a killer pizza:
Pizza baking stone - doughy half-baked crusts are a thing of the past!
Real crust - whip up some dough, it's seriously not hard.
Homemade pizza sauce, loaded with garlic.
Leftovers! Today our pizza had pork tenderloin, taco-seasoned ground beef, sauteed carrots, zucchini, and eggplant. It changes every week.
Then I threw on some mushrooms, green peppers, and mozzarella.
That's it. Easy!

I had enough for 2 pies, but we only need one to feed the family, so I'm freezing the second one for a quick go to meal. (first attempt at this, so I hope it works) Who doesn't love the convenience of having a pizza in the freezer? I do, I just don't like not being able to pronounce half the ingredients in the ones you get from a store.

291: Blah

It really wasn't a blah day, just a blah photo. I would rather have a blah photo than have a day go blank. I will persevere!

290: Strum

It does my spirit good to listen to my husband beating on a box drum, jamming with a friend on his guitar, singing praise to our God. (Don't know what a box drum is? I didn't either before I saw one...google it if you're curious).

Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God…

289: Glee

Bailey. She's so much fun!
Today her oldest brother wanted to go to the river with his fishing rod to practice his casting. We called a couple friends, and off we went!

288: Hem

Hobbit.
Vertically challenged.
"How's the weather down there?!"
Yeah I get it, I'm short. No one needs to point it out to me, and thankfully no one really has since high school. I'm keenly aware of it though, whenever I buy jeans. No thanks to The Gap, who made their ankle length jeans 2 inches longer than they used to be. When did short people get taller, and why didn't anyone tell me? I don't mind though. As my sister once rightly pointed out, "It's not so bad being short - you can always make a pair of pants shorter, but you can't make them longer!"

287: Big Brother

She took off like a bolt of lightning.
I asked him to go after her and bring her back.
And he did it.
He took some responsibility upon himself, AND she accepted his help. This moment gives me hope for the future.

Four of my friends are expecting, and today we were all at a shower for Allison - white shirt at the end - who is due in only 3 weeks. It's been a while since they have all been together, so lining up for some belly shots was long overdue :)

285: Sugar

I find it ironic that a few days after talking about wanting to cut out the junk food, I was in the kitchen all day baking cupcakes. They're not all for me though. Just thought I should make that clear. I'm off to a baby shower tomorrow afternoon and baking is what I do, so offered to bring goodies - voila!

284: Shine

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5
I know I've posted this verse before, but when I sit here trying to come up with a description for this photo, it's the only thing that comes to mind. The darkness cannot overcome the light. Praise God.
