73: Vancouver 2010

Van2010
Spotted this snow creation while I was out for a drive today! Looks like the folks who built this are really looking forward to the winter games kicking off tomorrow - they had a huge Canada flag hung on the front of their house as well! I talked to the woman who lived there: she said this was their first attempt at snow sculpting and I'd say they did a pretty great job. It started out as a gigantic pile of snow, then they cut this shape out of it (it's probably 5 or 6 feet tall) and sprayed the colour on.

I don't get crazy involved with the Olympics, but I do enjoy watching some events and hoping that Canada will score some medals. Clay told me yesterday that we have never won a gold medal when the games have been hosted here. Wow! Hopefully that record will be broken as we Own The Podium in 2010!

72: For the Birds

For The Birds
I'm starting to think I should declare "Winter Wednesday" on my 365 page :) I usually get out of the city on Wednesday and take my time getting back while I search for beauty out in the country. Isn't this row of red bird houses such a beautiful surprise amid the white of winter? I am still laughing at myself running through the mid-calf deep snow in the ditch with my Chuck Taylors to get this shot :)

71: Storytime

Feb9Story

Reading a bedtime story with Daddy. I was taking pictures of them with baby girl in one arm and camera in the other. Oi vey! The things we moms learn to do with one hand :)

70: Hockey Socks!

Feb8Feet

The boys were thrilled with a gift their Nona brought them from Montreal: hockey socks! They insisted on wearing them today, and I couldn't stop cracking up at Wyatt dancing around in them all day.

For the record, we are Oilers fans, but we're not crazy enough about hockey to care if the boys wear a rival team's colours.

Bedtime

Long day. I'm ready for bed.

Feb6Lines

Another gloriously frosty day in my part of the world, thanks to a heavy mist in the air last night. I don't know how well you can see it at this picture size, but these power lines are covered in thick frost. I never tire of taking frost pictures - it amazes me how even the most mundane of our brown and colourless surroundings is made beautiful on days like today.

67: Pour

Getting ready to snuggle on the couch with my sweetie and watch a movie. A bubbly glass of something cold sounds perfect!

I haven't had a haircut in at least 9 months. Over that time I wasn't unhappy with the way my hair looked, which was new, so my plan was to grow it until I hated it...and today was that day! In the past my spontaneous haircuts have rarely resulted in success, but that doesn't stop me from trying. And today, I won! I went to a salon pretty close by, recommended by Esther and Becky, and I am SO happy with my new 'do! I know you can't see the cut very well in this pic, but of all the ones I took I like the way I look in this one the best.

Feb3Crystals

We went to Dalmeny for Ladies Morning Out this morning and I was driving out of the parking lot when this tree caught my eye. The way the sun was breaking through the clouds and shining through the frost was so magical! I put the van in reverse, parked, and told the kids, "I'll be right back! Just gotta take a picture!" I think they're getting used to hearing that phrase by now.

Shoes

Can it get cuter than two little cousins prancing around the house in their newfound summertime footwear?!

Sher and I were sorting through boxes from Jude, all girl clothes and shoes. Jilly was happy to try on some sandals, and Wyatt went straight for the hot pink rubber boots :)
