99: Hideout

Mar9Boys
I made the boys a tent today, with a flat sheet draped over the table. Inside it we feasted on Kinder Surprise chocolate and the boys were thrilled with their horrible toys with way-too-small parts.

Bathwreck

Meet my main floor half bath, and its gaping hole in the ceiling. Ugh. This is definitely not what I was anticipating a year ago when we moved into this almost-new home. I thought a new house would mean less problems. Alas, the tub's overflow drain on the second floor was not sealed properly and has been leaking, probably since forever. My dad came over to pull the ceiling down today and we used our super sleuthing skills to find the problem. He sealed it for us and it appears to have done the trick.....now what to do with that gaping hole?

Our first instinct is to redo the drywall, but Dad says there's some really nice looking suspended ceilings you can get now - which would be easier than drywalling. Contemplating going for a tin ceiling look - would that be weird if we did it only in this little bathroom and didn't have it anywhere else in the house? Please weigh in. While I'm asking for advice, what do you think about wallpaper? :)
The Light Shines
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Birthday Girl

My niece and nephew's birthdays are within two weeks of each other, so today all the aunties, uncles, cousins, grandmas and grandpas went over to celebrate. This beautiful 8 year old was thrilled with a new NDS game!

I took this (and yesterday's shot) with Clay's new Canon T2i. No flash, but ISO set to 1600 - can't believe the clarity!

Fair Trade

"Men and women around the world have a simple dream – to earn an honest living, provide a home, food and education for their children, and to be gainfully employed in a job that brings dignity and joy.

Often referred to as ‘Fair Trade,' the philosophy of helping to build a sustainable future is based on the principle that trade should have a conscience. Through Fair Trade, artisans and farmers receive respect, dignity and hope from working hard and earning fair value for their work."

My brother Cody gave me this shirt for my birthday a few years ago. Isn't he charming?

Grapefruit! And a blood orange, who should have stuck to modeling.

Mar2Menu

Nothing more exciting than my menu planning madness to share with you today. Actually, it's very exciting to me because I planned a ton of meals for the month today and did so without crying! In all honesty, it has been so overwhelming for me to get my head into the zone of cooking lately, and today it just clicked. Rather than trying to do it on the computer I ripped open a pizza box and let my thoughts flow. There is a method to the madness before you!

91: Skeleton

Mar1WySlide
McDonalds has free coffee for the next two weeks - yahoo!! We met my dad at the one near our house this morning, and the boys had a great time at the playground.

Markus and Wyatt were quite inspired by watching the Olympics over the past few weeks. Most trips down a slide are declared as sledding - feet first is luge (complete with the rocking back and forth at the top to get momentum for a better run) and head first, well, skeleton of course!
