233: Lily

The first daylily to bloom in my yard this year - and it seems to be missing a petal. Oh well, I still find it stunning.

My boys are going to be ring bearers together at my brother's wedding next month, and I took them for their tux fittings today. Here's Wyatt, being so cooperative (really!), doing just what was asked of him. He and Markus looked too cool for school in their t-shirts and tux jackets, but then they tried the pants on and I was not at all happy with the fit (which the guy at the store said was how they are supposed to fit), and then I almost choked when they told me that they charge the same price for a kids tux as a mens. $150? x2? Are you kidding me??! Thanks, but no thanks. We spent the rest of the day shopping for an alternate wedding wardrobe that is much cheaper for us, much more comfortable for them, and we can keep it and have them wear it again. I'm so happy my future sister-in-law is so easy going, and not picky about them having to wear tuxes.

Does anyone know that song? An 80's classic by Kim Mitchell, who is also (in)famous for "Patio Lanterns". Those are the only two songs of his that I know, and much to my husband's chagrin, I love to occasionally serenade him with my 80's repertoire. As for Coke and Pepsi, I have no opinion. They were both in the recycling bin and I needed a willing subject for my photo.

230: Babies

I went out to see the documentary 'Babies' tonight with some friends. Such an interesting film about four babies from around the world (Namibia, Malaysia, Japan, and USA), from birth to their first steps. Check it out if you have the chance!

229: Chevy

Wow, wedding photography is hard work. I have a whole new level of appreciation for what wedding photographers do. I spent the day as a second shooter, and I am beat. Not to mention how much my arm is aching from holding my camera all day!
This is not my best shot from today, but I like it. I am still uploading and am in dire need of sleep, so....ta-da.

228: Tendril

Had to look no further than my garden, with my peas climbing their trellis, to find some curves today. Gorgeous. I am so amazed by the brilliant design of a pea plant. It sends out these tendrils to grab onto anything it can and climbs to the sky, letting its' fruit hang down for eager hands to pick. Thanks God.

Curves, this week's theme on 365 Project. Wasn't feeling very inspired today...tired, and wanting to go to bed.

226: Oregano

Here's my pot of oregano growing on my front step - lightly misted by the gentle rain coming down (rain is a daily occurrence here now), while the basil seems happier in the backyard. This is my first attempt at growing herbs and I am totally won over. It is so nice to just go snip some off and throw it into supper! I am nearly drooling, thinking about how good my basil is going to taste with a fresh-from-the-garden tomato once they're ready...but I'm getting ahead of myself, since they haven't even started bearing fruit yet.

Playing with a new toy again today - we got a Panasonic Lumix GH1. Its primarily purpose for us is to be a static cam when we are shooting video, but it's so nice and small that it might be my throw-it-in-the-purse camera now too.

225: Just Me

I finally got a haircut again today, so I figured it was time to attempt a self portrait again. My plan was to do one every month, and I think I haven't done one since February. So....here we go. Just me. Love my cut.
Suppertime was creeping closer, and I didn't have a plan. Instead of freaking out I just slowed down and decided to see what I could do with what I had. I figured I'd listen carefully and let the food speak to me. Fresh lettuce from the garden begged to be thrown into a salad - our first spoils from my tiny little garden plot. I'll spare you the details of what went into everything (unless you want to know, then by all means, ask), and just tell you that it was delicious. I need to listen to the food more often.
