289: Glee

Bailey. She's so much fun!
Today her oldest brother wanted to go to the river with his fishing rod to practice his casting. We called a couple friends, and off we went!

288: Hem

Hobbit.
Vertically challenged.
"How's the weather down there?!"
Yeah I get it, I'm short. No one needs to point it out to me, and thankfully no one really has since high school. I'm keenly aware of it though, whenever I buy jeans. No thanks to The Gap, who made their ankle length jeans 2 inches longer than they used to be. When did short people get taller, and why didn't anyone tell me? I don't mind though. As my sister once rightly pointed out, "It's not so bad being short - you can always make a pair of pants shorter, but you can't make them longer!"

287: Big Brother

She took off like a bolt of lightning.
I asked him to go after her and bring her back.
And he did it.
He took some responsibility upon himself, AND she accepted his help. This moment gives me hope for the future.

Four of my friends are expecting, and today we were all at a shower for Allison - white shirt at the end - who is due in only 3 weeks. It's been a while since they have all been together, so lining up for some belly shots was long overdue :)

285: Sugar

I find it ironic that a few days after talking about wanting to cut out the junk food, I was in the kitchen all day baking cupcakes. They're not all for me though. Just thought I should make that clear. I'm off to a baby shower tomorrow afternoon and baking is what I do, so offered to bring goodies - voila!

284: Shine

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5
I know I've posted this verse before, but when I sit here trying to come up with a description for this photo, it's the only thing that comes to mind. The darkness cannot overcome the light. Praise God.

283: Blah Buster

Admittedly, the past couple of days have been pretty uninspired. I used to stress myself out if I didn't get the perfect shot by the end of the day, and now I'm okay with whatever I get. Hence, a shot of my weather forecast yesterday.
I had already resigned myself to getting something pretty boring again today, but the raindrops on the lawn had other ideas. Today was a pretty trying day, and I'm thankful for my Jesus who heals my soul - today through supper and studying the word of God with friends, and some blah busting bokeh.

282: POP 100%

Tomorrow's forecast:
POP: 100%
Probability of soup: 100%

281: Inspire

Recently I read that September is a much more appropriate time than January for make new year's resolutions, and it struck a chord with me. I have been feeling as though I am lost at sea in so many areas of my practical life lately, and seriously need to revamp and get back to living in a way that works again. Summer was a crazy whirlwind, and I am ready to settle into a little more predictability.

One huge area that needs attention is our diet. Having my wisdom teeth pulled in July completely threw off any effort I had been making in having healthy meals and snacks in the house - I just sort of shut down and went into survival mode at that point. Which is fine for a week. But then August was insanely busy, so there was no plan for food...we just crossed that bridge when we came to it. Which resulted in a lot of coffee for me, and a few too many donuts, fried food, and burgers all around. I'm sick of it. My body is screaming, "No more! I need real food!"

It's time for a reboot. When processed food starts creeping into our house more steadily, I often sit down with this book and just get a quick refresher on getting back to basics. Real food in a nutshell, is food that is old (people have been eating them for a very long time), and traditional (the way we used to eat them). It's an excellent read, as is "Real Food For Mother & Baby" by the same author.

280: Bloom

Picked up a new mug today - perfect height to fit in the espresso machine.
