Shine on, shine on
And let the others see
You've got your victory
-Needtobreathe
This afternoon featured a spectacle of myself in utter defeat and despair in light of the impossible tasks ahead of me. "How can one person do it all?" I entreated my husband, to which he replied, "You can't."
He's right. When I trust myself to get it all accomplished it's impossible. But there is a light within, where the Holy Spirit resides, and when I look to the finished work of Christ and trust him instead of myself, he will accomplish great things. In him, I've already got my victory.
So...public health called me yesterday and informed me I am in fact sick. I did, in fact, already know it. What I didn't know was what was making me sick. Cryptosporidium. There's a mouthful. I am slowly improving, but I have been eating bland, easily digestible food for a week and a half and I am getting tired of it! There's only so much white bread, rice, crackers, and jell-o a person can tolerate before they start to go crazy. (I'd have more homemade broth if I had it, but it's a precious commodity around here) To the Multi-Grain Cheerios' credit, they are actually quite enjoyable on their own.
One of my cute little mailmen opening the box, with the help of Daddy to lift him up. We stopped to get the mail on a quick after-supper walk around the block.
A favourite pastime around here lately is watching the old Batman TV series. Bailey's favourite part is the theme song, to which she chimes in "Na-NAN!!" every time they sing 'Batman'. Sometimes I don't know how to handle her cuteness!
The boys find the humour hilarious, and the action larger than life. I wonder what they'll think of it 10 years from now, after they've been exposed to a modern action flick! For now though it's good clean fun, and they love to run around pretending to be Batman and Robin.

The ale didn't do the trick last week, so now I move on to ail (French for garlic). This is one nasty bug that just won't take a hike.
I'm off to sip my big mug of homemade turkey broth and watch The Amazing Race.

Harvest bounty - or lack thereof! I had two massive pumpkin plants take over my backyard flower bed this year, and this is the harvest I have to speak of. One lone pumpkin. I'm glad I got one though! I like gardening, but I'm still new at it and don't know a whole lot. Like my friend Janelle says, "Anything growing in my yard wants to live, because I don't really have a clue what I'm doing." I think you know more than you let on though, Janelle!
I do appreciate a good close crop to make me appreciate the details I might otherwise overlook.

I snapped this on the way home from some friends' house, and what began as a photo that was nothing special - just something to fill the day - has become meaningful to me. I thought I should try to come up with something obscure, arty, and interesting to write but could think of nothing. What came to me was a simple gratitude.
The ink black sky represents my sin, and the red ribbon flying freely represents the shed blood of Jesus, my savior. I have nothing more important to be thankful for this (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend, than the fact that I am forgiven and loved by the God who saves.

One lone dandelion, growing out of the rocks.
Warning to those who don't know what I'm saying when I talk about f-stops: photography lingo will follow :)
What I mainly have against this photo is that the focus isn't razor sharp. I like it though. Clay bought an old tv lens and an adapter to use it with our Lumix GH1, and it's really fun to play with. The focus is tricky, but with f/1.4 it could come in pretty handy! (And I dare you to find another f/1.4 lens for $50!) It's also kind of neat and kitschy that with a more closed aperture, it creates its own vignetting.

I love it when these boys play well together. Can't you see the stars in Wyatt's eyes as he looks at his big brother? Here they are on our deck, which was renamed "The fighting floor".
Markus challenged Wyatt, "Do you wanna come fight me on the fighting floor?"
Wyatt's response was an enthusiastic, "YEAH!!"
It was good medicine for a sick mama.

Still feeling bad. I don't know if its the flu or what it is, I just hope I feel better soon. I am not in the mood for taking pictures, but I am also not in the mood to throw in the towel on this project when I am only 55 days away from completing it! So here we go, a photo as clear as my head right now.
On days like today, I am thankful for my husband, who takes such good care of me before and after work, for kids who can entertain themselves on the Wii while I rest, a little girl who napped extra long, a mom who stopped by and let me go nap while she watched the kids, and above all, I'm thankful for my God. He endured far more for my sake, and I know he will carry me through this brief time of suffering.
