It was another Christmas goody day in our house, this time we made Crispy Chocolate Almond Sticks. They were so easy and are SO good. Ever had Pocky? That's what these taste like. Did you notice that "one of these things is not like the others..."? Markus' handiwork!

It feels like about -40C with the wind here today, which seemed like perfect weather to get down to the river and capture the steam rising from the water in the extreme cold, haha :) I felt a little crazy being outside taking pictures in this weather, but not as crazy as the guy who ran past me on a morning jog. Seriously?!

I received this dancing santa kewpie doll for Christmas in 2000 from Chika, a girl from Japan who lived with my family for a year on an exchange program. He does a little jig to Jingle Bells that sounds more like "Jingle Buns", and blasts out too loud for the boys to appreciate him too much yet. Small blessings abound!

It's beginning to taste a lot like Christmas! Mmmm....I baked a batch of Pepernoten (aka: Peppernuts) yesterday. No one could keep their hands out of the container, least of all me. Might have to make another batch since they're half gone already :)

Here he is, my handsome Markus! The black marks on his face aren't weird shadows, just some random pen scribbles. Oh to be three again :)

I had planned on posting a picture of my handsome eldest son today, but when we woke to a blanket of hoarfrost this morning I decided to postpone his cuteness until tomorrow. This winter beauty makes the cold bearable :)

A trip to see my doctor today resulted in a thrilling discovery: gone are the paper cover-up sheets. Hello gowns and partial dignity!
